My Brother’s Girlfriend Hit On Me and Is Now Threatening Me

I’m writing this with my hands still shaking because my brother’s girlfriend hit on me, and now she’s threatening to ruin my entire life. I am a thirty-year-old single guy who has spent the last few years focusing entirely on my career and living a quiet life. My younger brother, who is twenty-seven, has been dating his twenty-six-year-old girlfriend for nearly four years. He loves her to the point of absolute blindness. Earlier this year, he brought her home to meet our family with serious intentions of marriage. We all welcomed her warmly, assuming she was going to be my future sister-in-law. Ever since then, my life has been turned upside down.

It started subtly. At first, she began texting me under the guise of asking about my brother’s preferences. Naturally, I answered politely, thinking I was just being a good older brother establishing a healthy connection with my family-to-be. But slowly, her messages shifted. She started asking personal questions about my daily routine, my job, and my lifestyle.

Then came her frequent visits to our house. Every time my brother brought her over for dinner, I noticed her staring at me constantly and putting food onto my plate. Whenever she felt “tired,” she would casually walk into my bedroom and lie on my bed. She claimed she had asked my brother’s permission and that my mattress was simply more comfortable. To avoid any awkwardness, I never stayed alone in the room with her; I would either step outside or sit strictly at my desk working until she left.

That’s when things started getting really uncomfortable. She kept asking me to meet her outside the house and constantly badmouthed my brother. I rejected her invitation nearly ten times, telling her that if she wanted to talk, we could chat at the family dinner table. Eventually, she asked me directly: “Do you like me?”

Thinking she meant as a future brother-in-law, I politely replied that I respected her background, education, and polite demeanor. That polite answer backfired horribly. She immediately confessed that she had been attracted to me since the beginning of the year. She said we were a better match, praising my financial stability, career, and cooking skills, before proposing that we date secretly or that she break up with my brother so we could be together.

I honestly couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I firmly told her, “You are my brother’s girlfriend; how could I ever pursue you?” I thought setting that hard boundary would snap her back to reality. Instead, she began utterly degrading my brother. She called him inferior in looks and education, claiming he was merely “a doormat beneath her feet” and that she deserved a man at my level. Hearing her insult my own blood made my temper boil, but I forced myself to stay calm. I defended my brother, reminded her of how deeply he sacrifices for her, and begged her to forget this conversation ever happened and treat him right.

When she refused to back down, I blocked her on every single platform—iMessage, social media, and phone calls. I even began staying out late after work, grabbing dinner alone, and sitting in coffee shops until I checked our driveway camera and confirmed she had left our house. To protect my brother from getting his heart broken, I quietly deleted our text history—a decision that I now deeply regret.

Fast forward to last weekend during our family memorial gathering. I was down in the kitchen preparing food when she walked in alone. With a cold, chilling smile, she looked me dead in the eye and dropped a horrifying ultimatum.

Family tension after brother's girlfriend hit on me

She told me: “You can’t escape me. If I can’t have you, I will destroy everything.” She demanded I give her a chance to date me secretly while she slowly broke up with my brother. If I refused, she threatened to tell my brother and my entire family that I had been actively flirting with her, inviting her to my bedroom, and making inappropriate physical advances toward her.

I just stood there in complete shock. She gave me a deadline to unblock her, warning that if I didn’t comply, she would ruin my reputation, my career, and my relationship with my family.

I am not afraid for myself because I know I am completely innocent. But I am terrified for my younger brother. He is deeply vulnerable, has a history of severe clinical depression, and loves her to an unhealthy degree. Over the last four years, he has funded her master’s degree, lent her thousands of dollars, and bought her every luxury item she ever demanded. Last year, when they briefly broke up, he was so utterly devastated that he attempted self-harm and had to be saved by our father. When she took him back, he treated it like a miracle.

Our parents have always felt something was off about her, sensing a layer of insincerity behind her polite front. But because of my brother’s fragile mental state, no one in the family ever dared to oppose their relationship.

Now, I am trapped in a nightmare. I have no digital evidence because I deleted the messages weeks ago, and there are no cameras in our kitchen. If I tell my brother the truth abruptly, his fragile mind might shatter. I’m terrified he won’t be able to handle it. But if I stay silent, this manipulative woman will continue leeching off my family and threatening my life.

I am planning to speak with my parents privately first, while seeing if there’s any way to recover the deleted messages. But my heart aches every single day. How do you protect a fragile sibling from a toxic partner when the truth itself could be the very thing that breaks him?
